Inaugural Orthopedic Operating Room Personnel Training in Negros Island

Last February 8, 2025, Negros Island’s first In-Hospital Training for Operating Room Personnel was hosted by Dr. Pablo O. Torre Memorial Hospital (DPOTMH, Riverside Medical Center). This was made possible by AOTrauma Philippines. Faculty guests included course chairman Hyacinth Babag (Notre Dame De Chartres Hospital), Drs. Jean Pierre Leung (Notre Dame De Chartres Hospital), Maria Adelwisa Belen (St. Luke’s Medical Center), Nathaniel Orillaza Jr. (UP-PGH), and Pierre Napoleon Niere. Dr. Jose Maria Coruña, Bacolod City’s pioneer regional AO Faculty and past Medical Director of DPOTMH, along with Dr. Chinkin Coruña, welcomed 30 participants from the largest private and public hospitals (DPOTMH, The Doctors’ Hospital, Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital, Negros Oriental Provincial Hospital) in Negros Island where orthopedic surgery is performed.

This was an accredited international certificate course for nurses and implant technicians. The capabilities and investment on human resources mirror the state-of-the-art infrastructure made available for improved patient outcomes locally. Both Coruñas have outstanding rapport in delivering excellent orthopedic care to their patients and operate in the biggest hospitals in Bacolod City.
