Bacolod Orthopedic Surgeon Demonstrates Proper Ankle Care

Five Orthopaedics and Traumatology pre-residents in Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital were welcomed by the Foot and Ankle Service headed by Dr. Chinkin Coruña with a lower extremity casting caravan on top of the monthly audit.

This serves as a unique learning experience for them early on in their career and will continue to be polished as they get promoted. Cast immobilization is not as simple as many people may think. It's application is the reflection of the health professional's skill and knowledge in doing so. Many horror stories have been published of poorly applied devices with patient complications sometimes too unbelievable to be true.

It is our hope to bring out the best in these young MDs and allow them to be the doctors they ought to be. It is an honor to be part of their education, and that of our clerks and postgraduate interns. Ankle fractures and sprains are common injuries, with timely referrals valuable for good outcomes.
