Five Ways to Care for Diabetic Feet
Diabetic patients often neglect their feet until a lesion or wound starts causing discomfort. When diagnosed as a diabetic, it is best for you to see a foot doctor who can perform a comprehensive baseline physical examination, and guide you on proper foot care.
Here are some ways you can take care of your feet and avoid complications.

Do a daily foot check. Look for red spots, cuts or wounds, swelling, blisters, or other changes. Look at the bottom of your feet with a mirror or ask for help.
Wash and dry your feet with soap and warm water. Dry well especially in between your toes where fungus can grow.
Keep your feet moisturized. Avoid dry and cracked skin by using lotion. Apply it on your feet, but not in between your toes. Keep the area between your toes dry to prevent fungus.
Avoid walking barefoot. Diabetics are even more vulnerable to injuries. Shoes and socks offer the best protection.
Cut your nails correctly. Make sure your nails are cut straight across, and not too short. Beware of bad pedicures, too!
